Summary
A pleasant, fairly quiet and undulating route with decent road surfaces in the main. Much of the route should be familar to regular Dene riders but a SAFETY WARNING.
Crossing the A46 is unavoidable, and we do this at Red Hill. Traffic on the A46 here is both busy and fast. So we will not attempt this crossing in one large group (unless traffic is unusually sparse!) .
We need to look out for each other and riders should only cross after checking for themselves that it is safe.We will wait on the other side of the staggered T junction until all are safely across. I rode the route today and you also need to be on the lookout for large HGVs travelling at speed from the right. One came past me this morning and the side turbulence was so strong i was almost knocked sideways off my bike.
