WW Tuesday Twitterings - 10th December 2019

Dear all,

I hope this email finds you all well, and starting to ramp up in festive spirit for the Christmas season. The club certainly kicked it off last Friday with their Dinner and Awards Evening, held at the Charlecote Pheasant. It was great to see people out and about, and to see what they look like out of their cycling clothes, and an impressively smart bunch we all appear to be.

Award Winners

This year, as always we had some extremely worthy winners, and so without further ado, here are the names;

Tuesday Evenning  - Paul Markwick
Mountford - Phillip and Claire Harris (they ride a tandem so how could you separate them?)
Dene - David Thomas
Hastings - Lynn Sherren
Sunday Casual - Sue Ziel
Sunday Club - Alan Richardson

And the final one………

Wheeler of the Year - David Thomas. Just a few words on this award. David has been a huge contributor to the club this year. He has lead rides for both Dene and Mountford, has been a great support to members when out riding and has done all of this in a very unassuming way. It is by presenting this award to him that the club can recognise his efforts. So thank you David, your support of the club has been really appreciated.

Dates for the Diary

The AGM is once more bearing down upon us. The secretary, in his final month or so in office, will be sending a number of communications to you, and the timeline looks as follows;

12 Dec – Send out subscription request (5 weeks prior to AGM)
14 Dec – formally inform membership of AGM date and request items for agenda (deadline 5 Jan) and position nominations (10 Jan)
10 Jan – receive all nominations for committee members and group organisers
12 Jan – send out AGM agenda
20 Jan – AGM

The AGM is to be held at the Charlecote Pheasant with a start time of arrive around 7:30pm with the meeting be promptly started at 8pm. Please put the date in your diary and it would be great to see as many of you attend as possible. After all it is your club, and you decide as to how it is run and its future direction.

As always, the full details of the rides can be found at the following link;

The Tuesday night stalwarts braved the cold conditions. The Thursday groups certainly seemed willing to brace the weather with a good turn-out of 24 across all three groups. Dene and Mountford seemed to have fun but uneventful rides however Hastings was a little different. Hastings had a beanie incident which delayed the start, and then proceeded to seek out the muddiest roads in Warwickshire. The Sunday rides both had a couple of little out of the ordinary incidents, with a Casula rider having a little tumble on some mud on the road, but thankfully unhurt, and the Club Ride Leader managing to get a puncture, and work his way through 3 inner tubes, a mile walk and a new tyre to resolve the issue. However, there was a guest appearance, the great Efe Tunc putting in an appearance to brighten the day.

So that is all for this week, hope to see you soon out and about.
