Wellesbourne Wheelers is a cycling club that draws its members from Wellesbourne and the surrounding villages. It supports social group riding of different distances and speeds and currently has about 100 members. We sometimes ride fast but always stop for coffee and cake!

The club runs group rides from about twenty miles in distance to over fifty. The shorter and slower rides are a great introduction to club riding and remain one of the main entry points into club cycling. These shorter distances are accessible to most people with any sort of hybrid or road bike so if you want to start cycling the lovely quiet lanes of Warwickshire (and sometimes Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire) please come and join one of our rides. Most rides also feature a café stop to allow for chat, coffee and cake.

Depressing as it is for a scrooge like me to put on the website in early September, we are already planning the Club Christmas dinner!  It will be held at the Charlecote Pheasant on the 6th December (the same venue as last year).

Following the enjoyable weekend 9 of us spent at the Dragon Ride in 2019 we are looking to repeat the trick by entering an "away Sportive" in Pembrokeshire, the 2020 Tour of Pembrokeshire on the weekend of the 16th May.  Alan rode the Paul Ties route in 2019 and thought it probably the best organised and most enjoyable sportive he has ridden in.

For the past few years the club has organised a spring trip to Majorca.  This year we are investigating the possibility of us going to Cyprus instead.  At this point it is just a feasibility study but if you are interested in spending a week cycling in Cyprus please let Gary know before Monday 16th September.

The Great Shakespeare Ride (GSR), our nearest and best attended sportive of the year, is held on the 28th of July starting at Walton Hall.  There are three distances, 50km, 100km and 100 miles and in previous years we have had entrants at all three distances.
